Registration for Subtle Acts of Exclusion Workshop, Part 2

Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. | We are thrilled that Dr. Michael Baran, co-author of "Subtle Acts of Exclusion: How to Understand, Identify, and Stop Microaggressions," has agreed to lead the second portion of this workshop for us. The approach fits well with UU values and our denomination’s culture of covenant in our congregational structure and relationships, especially the concept of calling each other back into covenant when we inevitably stray.

If you attended the Widening the Circle of Concern (WTC) sessions, you’ll remember talking about how we need to do a better job of addressing microaggressions if we want to become a more truly inclusive and welcoming congregation. Dealing with microaggressions was also one of the top priority actions for FUUN to take that were identified by WTC participants. This May, the FUUN Board decided to support the development of a policy based on the Subtle Acts of Exclusion approach to handling microaggressions.

We have purchased several of the books for you to borrow and read before the workshop. They are available at the social justice table in the social area.
